Notes: The second presidential debate was held Wednesday night. The flash polls showed George W. Bush the so-called winner, but last week taught us about the unreliability of flash polls. In the last two questions of the debate, moderator Jim Lehrer brought up the candidates camps spin about the candidates. The Bush camp is spinning Al Gore as a serial exaggerator who cannot be trusted. The Gore camp is spinning Bush as not bright enough to be president. The camps are using a classic propagandist's tool of taking something people already believe and enlarging upon it. However, the tragic events in the Middle East during night have eclipsed the debate. 10.13.00
