Notes: Democratice Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska is not even on Al Gore's short list for vice president. In fact Kerrey supported Bill Bradley during the primaries, and relations between him and Gore are said to be distant. Moreover, Kerrey -- known as the John McCain of the Democratic Party -- is considered to be his own man who speaks his mind. His qualities are not normally wanted in a vice president. Nevertheless, many analysts say that Kerrey, a Vietnam war hero, is the one pick who would excite democrats and also independent swing voters. They say he is the one pick that republicans fear. Trailing George W. Bush in the polls by double digits, maybe Gore should throw the long ball. 08.06.00
