Notes: Senator Bill Frist of Tennessee has been elected Senate Republican leader. Frist, who known to be close to the White House, replaces embattled Trent Lott in that roll. It was rumored that top Bush adviser Karl Rove played the key hand in Frist's becoming majority leader with, of course, George W. Bush's blessing. So for fun, I've portrayed Frist in the strip as a puppet with the puppeteers -- Rove and Bush -- hidden behind the White House (used here as a puppet stage). Regardless of any intrigue, the Bush team is thought to be far more comfortable with Frist than it was with Lott.

Happy New Year. 12.29.02
